CNN Travel has named Sarasota the No. 1 Best Town to Visit in America for 2026.

The annual ranking was developed from nominations submitted by CNN Travel readers and staff. Hundreds of destinations were considered based on their attractions, food and beverage offerings, arts and culture, nightlife, diversity, local identity, accessibility, lodging and overall “wow” factor.

The top five destinations were

1. Sarasota, Florida
2. New Haven, Connecticut
3. Greenville, South Carolina
4. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
5. Fort Collins, Colorado

CNN gave Sarasota particularly high marks for its arts and cultural offerings, beaches and gardens, and distinctive history.
